Belly Button Revision Candidates

Candidates for belly button revision include those who are unhappy with the appearance of their belly button. Many candidates have experienced changes in their belly button due to previous surgery or piering of the area.  To be considered a good candidate for Belly Button Revision you should be in overall good health, a non-smoker, have a BMI of 30 or less and be at a stable weight for at least 6 months.  If the cause or the change of appearance is due to a hernia, a consultation with a general surgeon will be recommended. 

The Belly Button Revision Procedure

The belly button revision is done under local or IV sedation. Dr. D’Agostino, our double board-certified plastic surgeon, will decide the best way to correct the appearance of your belly button and create a more natural look. Incisions will be closed with absorbable sutures.

Belly Button Revision Recovery

Recovering after your umbilicoplasty procedure is relatively easy. You can return to work within a few days and need to avoid any physical activity for a few weeks. Heavy lifting and sun exposure should be avoided to allow the scar to heal and fade properly. You may experience bruising and discomfort in your abdominal area. However, this is manageable with medication. Following Dr. D’Agostino’s aftercare instructions are essential to help your body optimally heal.
