What is Dysport? 

Dysport is a neuromodulator that is FDA-approved to diminish the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines). It works similarly to Botox. The active ingredient is botulinum toxin, which works to temporarily stop certain facial muscles from contracting. When these muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles stop contracting, the wrinkles are allowed to smooth out and fade, leaving you with a younger-looking appearance.

Dysport Candidates 

Ideal candidates for Dysport are healthy adults who are 18 years old or older, those with realistic expectations, and anyone struggling with moderate to severe frown lines. Your provider at 5th Ave. Plastic Surgery will determine if Dysport is right for you during your consultation. 

We typically don’t recommend Dysport for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of botulinum toxin sensitivity, or have a milk allergy.

The Dysport Treatment

Dysport treatment is a very straightforward procedure. We’ll start treatment by cleansing the treatment area. Your provider will then start your injections. How many Dysport injections you receive depends on the results you’re looking for and the severity of your lines and wrinkles.  At most, the procedure will take 10-20 minutes.

Dysport Recovery

There’s little to no downtime after Dysport treatment. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site may occur but typically resolves within a day. Avoid strenuous activities and any pressure or rubbing of the treated area for at least 24 hours. The Dysport formula tends to start working within 2-3 days, with full results showing up in 1-2 weeks. To maintain your results, you’ll want to receive repeated treatment every 3-4 months.
