Back Lift Candidates

Candidates for a backlift procedure include those unhappy with the appearance of the excess skin on their back area. The excess skin may have developed due to significant weight loss or aging skin. To be considered a good candidate for back lift surgery you should be in overall good health, a non-smoker, have a BMI of 30 or less, and be at a stable weight for at least 6 months.

The Back Lift Procedure

The back lift procedure will begin with our double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. D’Agostino, examining and marking the areas of excess skin which will be determined with you. After anesthesia is
administered, Dr. D’Agostino will make incisions in the discussed areas and your excess skin will be removed. The remaining skin will be closed, creating a smooth appearance. A drain may be placed and
bandages will be applied to the area.

Back Lift Recovery

Recovering after your backlift procedure can take several weeks. You can return to work after a week or two and must avoid physical activity for several weeks. Heavy lifting and sun exposure should be avoided to allow the scar to heal and fade properly. You may experience bruising and discomfort in your surgery area. However, this is manageable with medication. Following Dr. D’Agostino’s aftercare instructions are essential to help your body heal.
