To be considered a good candidate for Revision Breast Surgery, you should be in overall good health, a non-smoker, and have a BMI of 30 or less. Dr. D’Agostino also recommends that her patients be at a stable weight for at least 6 months. The Breast Implant Exchange Procedure

Breast implant exchange begins by administering anesthesia. Our double-board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. D’Agostino, will create the planned incisions which are most commonly under the breast. From there, Dr. D’Agostino will remove the old implant and place the implant in the breast pocket. Once in place, the incisions will be closed with absorbable sutures, and you’ll be made ready for your recovery.

Breast Implant Exchange Recovery

Breast implant exchange typically requires 1-2 weeks of downtime. You’ll be instructed to limit your activity level and focus on resting throughout this phase, regularly checking in with Dr. D’Agostino to monitor your progress. One essential step is wearing a specialized surgical bra, which helps support your new breasts and relieves pressure from your incisions. Dr. D’Agostino will give detailed instructions on caring for your incisions, taking medications, and more during your pre-operative appointment. It may take 3-6 months for your implants to settle into their final appearance fully, and swelling will continue to subside. One year after breast implant exchange surgery, your incisions should have faded significantly, and you can enjoy your results for years to come.
