Excess stubborn fat that is not responsive to a healthy diet and exercise can hinder your confidence.  Liposuction can remove this stubborn fat from various body areas to help improve your contour. It is important to note that this is not a weight loss or cellulite reduction procedure.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction removes localized fat deposits in the body. It can be paired with other procedures to help you achieve your goals. Liposuction can address areas of fat on the:

  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Waist
  • Chest
  • Neck
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Upper arms

Liposuction Candidates

Ideal liposuction patients include those experiencing excess stubborn fat that is still persistent even with a good diet and exercise. This surgery works best on individuals with healthy and firm skin. Others may need simultaneous skin tightening treatments to address loose skin. To be considered a good candidate for liposuction surgery you should be in overall good health, a non-smoker, have a BMI of 30 or less and be at a stable weight for at least 6 months.

The Liposuction Procedure

Your liposuction procedure will begin with anesthesia being administered to minimize any discomfort that you can experience during the procedure. Afterwards, small incisions will be created to insert the liposuction cannulas and the targeted fat will be removed.  When the desired amount of fat is removed, the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures.

Dr. D is AMAZING!

I knew two things were most important to me when looking for the right surgeon: the results and bedside manner. I feel so grateful to have hit the jackpot with Dr D who gave me the BEST of both of those. From the first moment I met her in the consult, I knew she was different from most doctors. She is incredibly kind, sweet, patient, and attentive. She made me feel cared for in a way that’s hard to put into words, but when you’re preparing for a big surgery, it’s the exact type of energy that puts you at total ease. Dr D not only answered all my questions, on multiple different occasions, leading up to surgery but she was extremely patient with them all.

FAQ

How much weight can I lose with liposuction?

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but rather a body contouring technique. The procedure aims to improve body shape and proportions rather than significantly reduce overall body weight.

Can liposuction treat cellulite?

While liposuction can improve body contours, it's not specifically designed to treat cellulite. In some cases, it may even make cellulite more noticeable. For cellulite concerns, other treatments like Aveli might be more appropriate.

How soon can I return to work after liposuction?

Most patients can return to desk jobs within 1 week after liposuction. However, if your job involves physical activity, you may need to take 1-2 weeks off. Full recovery, including the ability to resume strenuous exercise, typically takes 6-8 weeks.

Will the fat come back after liposuction?

Fat cells removed during liposuction do not regenerate. However, remaining fat cells can still enlarge if you gain weight. Maintaining a stable weight through diet and exercise is crucial for long-lasting results.

Is liposuction painful?

During the procedure, you'll be under anesthesia and won't feel pain. Post-operative discomfort is usually manageable with prescribed pain medication. Most patients describe the sensation as soreness or bruising rather than sharp pain.
