FAQ

How long do breast implants last?

While breast implants are not considered lifetime devices, they can last many years. Regular check-ups with your plastic surgeon are recommended to monitor the condition of your implants. Some women may choose to replace or remove their implants after 10-15 years.

What is breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that enhances the size and shape of the breasts using implants or fat transfer techniques. This procedure can help women achieve their desired breast size and improve body proportions.

How long is the recovery time after breast augmentation?

Recovery time varies, but most patients can return to work within 1-2 weeks. Full recovery and final results may take several months. It's important to follow your surgeon's post-operative instructions for optimal healing.

What types of breast implants are available?

There are two main types of breast implants: silicone and saline. Silicone implants offer a more natural feel, while saline implants can be adjusted for size after surgery. Your surgeon will help you choose the best option based on your goals and body type.

Will breast augmentation affect my ability to breastfeed?

Most women can still breastfeed after breast augmentation. However, it's essential to discuss your plans for future pregnancies with your surgeon, as they may recommend specific implant placement techniques to minimize potential complications.

is Breast Augmentation Painful?

Pain tolerances vary substantially from one woman to another, but overall, most report that breast augmentation is very tolerable. We provide pain medications to help you rest more comfortably during the first few days. If you experience unexpected pain during your recovery, contact our office and we’ll talk about options for decreasing discomfort during recovery.

Will I Have Scars After Breast Augmentation?

Some scarring is expected after breast surgery, but it is rarely noticeable after initial healing is complete. Our surgeons place incisions in inconspicuous locations, like under the breast in the lower breast crease, to minimize the appearance of scarring. Once you’re fully healed, scarring is usually imperceptible, even without clothing, unless you are specifically looking for the scars.

What Are the Best Breast Implants: Saline or Silicone?

We offer both saline and silicone breast implants. Saline implants have the advantage of a lower price point and smaller placement incision. Silicone breast implants are softer and more natural feeling. We will help you make the saline vs. silicone decision as you prepare for your surgery.

Can I Breastfeed After Breast Augmentation?

Most women can successfully breastfeed after breast augmentation. If you’re planning future pregnancies and are hoping to breastfeed, let us know before your surgery.

How Long Until I Can Wear Underwire Bras After Breast Surgery?

The breasts go through a period of adjustment for the first several weeks after breast augmentation. The implants will need to soften and settle into their final, natural looking position. During this time, underwire bras are not usually recommended. Give your breasts time to heal and wait until your implants settle and your incisions are fully healed before wearing an underwire bra, usually about six weeks after surgery. For the first six weeks, wear the surgical bra we provide to properly support your breasts for optimal healing.

Will I Need Someone to Drive Me Home After My Surgery?

You’ll need a little help recovering from surgery. Patients are unable to drive immediately after surgery, and usually for the first few days of recovery. Arrange for a responsible adult to take you home and stay with you for the first couple of days.

How Often Are Breast Implants Replaced?

Modern breast implants are strong, durable, and long lasting. We typically do not recommend implant replacement unless there is a problem, like a desire to change breast size or a leak. We always tell our patients that implant replacement is likely after breast augmentation, but usually many years later.

When is the best time of year to get breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a significant surgical procedure, and your body will need months to fully return to normal after the surgery.rnrnImmediately following the procedure, patients need one week of complete rest, with the bare minimum physical activity, to allow the implants to settle and their body to adjust. They then need another two weeks of reduced activity as the swelling subsides and the body slowly heals the incisions made during the procedure.rnrnFor these reasons, it is ideal for patients to consider breast augmentation in Tampa and Sarasota during a time of year where can comfortably take some time off work and stay indoors. The holiday season or the summer break offer such an opportunity.

Are there any ways to recover sooner from a breast augmentation?

A compression garment supports the breasts, implants, and skin during healing, and is a critical part of optimal healing from a breast augmentation.rnrnWearing a compression garment in the warm summer climate of Tampa, Boca Raton, and Sarasota might not feel ideal, which is why many patients consider breast augmentation in cooler months, from November to March.

How much does breast enhancement surgery cost in Sarasota, Boca Raton, and Tampa?

The total cost of your breast augmentation will vary, depending on your unique needs. We invite you to come in for a consultation, where our team will evaluate you and ask you questions about your cosmetic goals and expectations for the procedure. Then, he can give you an accurate cost estimate for your surgery.
