A brow lift, or a forehead lift, is ideal for minimizing wrinkles and restoring the face to a more youthful state. A brow lift can be combined with other anti-aging procedures to give you the results you love at 5th Avenue Plastic Surgery.
What is a Brow Lift?
Sagging of the eyebrows and deep lines on the forehead can give one a tired, even angry appearance. The endoscopic forehead and eyebrow lift (commonly called a brow lift) is designed to smooth wrinkles and correct drooping eyebrows and heavy eyelids to provide a younger, friendlier, and more alert appearance. This procedure is often combined with a facelift and blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). The significant advantage of the endoscopic brow lift procedure over the traditional forehead lift is that the incisions are small. Therefore, the risk of bleeding, hair loss, scarring, and scalp numbness is significantly reduced. Lifting the brow can often dramatically improve the appearance of the upper eyelids and allow the surgeon to perform a more conservative upper blepharoplasty while still realizing a beneficial effect.

Brow Lift Candidates
A brow lift is ideal for creating a more youthful appearance. Our surgeons utilize brow lifts in some of the following ways:
- Reduce horizontal wrinkle lines on the forehead, nose, and eyes
- Raise drooping brows that are causing hoods on the upper eyelids
- Decrease the appearance of vertical frown lines
- Awaken the eyes and eyebrows
To be considered a good candidate, you should be in overall good health with no medical conditions that will affect your healing process. During a consultation, you’ll discuss your aesthetic goals for a brow lift and determine whether it is correct. Dr. Tzikas or Dr. Mascaró will provide an in-depth treatment plan based on your needs and concerns.
The Brow Lift Procedure
The brow lift procedure is most often performed using intravenous sedation for the optimal patient comfort.Brow lifts are performed through an endoscopic incision, coronal incision, or anterior hairline incision and usually take about one hour to perform.
Endoscopic Incision
With an endoscopic incision, our double board-certified surgeon uses a thin tube with a camera attached called an endoscope. Dr. Tzikas or Dr. Mascaró will make small incisions along the hairline and adjust tissue and muscle beneath the skin, correcting any sagging or creasing in the skin.
Coronal Incision
A coronal incision is created across the top of the head from ear to ear within the hair. Dr. Tzikas or Dr. Mascaró will lift the loose skin, adjust the muscles, and close the incision.
Anterior Hairline Incision
An incision can be made in the anterior hairline for individuals with high foreheads. This allows the lifting of the brow without altering the hairline height.
After completing your procedure, Dr. Tzikas or Dr. Mascaró will close your incision with removable or absorbable sutures, skin adhesives, or medical-grade clips.
Brow Lift Recovery
The major advantage of the endoscopic brow lift procedure over the traditional forehead lift is that the incisions are small. Therefore, the risk of bleeding, hair loss, scarring, and scalp numbness is significantly reduced. Since the brow lift surgery is less invasive, recovery is faster, with most patients returning to work within one week. Patients with a coronal or anterior hairline brow lift may experience longer recovery times, up to three weeks.
